When we headed out from our cities and careful-plowed fields, we found a wonderland. Riches beyond our imaginings just waitin’ to be grabbed, whether you fancied gold, silver, clean water for your herds, cavorite by the buckets, or even a view that wasn’t all clogged up with brick homes and factory stacks.
Problem was, some folk were already there, the wild things that had long left our homelands and got their own. We got out there and started pushing them farther and farther out as we decided to put our feet up on what some others had built. Well, they started pushin’ back. And it wasn’t pretty what happened after that. Lots of folk died, lots of grudges earned, lot of good folk caught in the middle, lot a sense needin’ to be knocked into some heads.
That’s where I come in, and I got a job to do, wilder or warder, don’t matter.
—Alvah Schieffelin, justice of the Advocate’s Guild
It’s a little weird out in this west. Peculiar Ride is my take on the what-ifs of science, fantasy, and the mythos of the Wild West. If you’re familiar with Wild Wild West, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., and Arcanum – Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, this might just be the comic for you.
