Folio 01: Itzal the Bone Seer, dhampir oracle
dhampir oracle 8
They say he was born half-dead, and Itzal was inclined to agree with them. The truth of his father's nature was never foreign to him, for it chased him like a vivid dream that only faded in the light of the morning, and he felt the painful truth, bone-deep and aching. The touch of the local priest burned him as badly as sticking his hand in a forge-fire, only confirming what was "wrong" with him. An uneasy truce with the priest turned to an honest friendship, and Itzal took over his duties when he grew infirm and after his death. Trust among the populace was much harder to earn, and never fully acquired, though they were eager to buy his nostrums and beg for a glimpse of the future.
The arrival of a daemonic cult threw his world into a spin, finding a kinship in the desire to not reign in his destructive touch, the easy way he could convince people to do his will. The cult was not alone, though, and were pursued by crusaders intent on crushing them into dust.
Now, Itzal has a choice to embrace his heritage and join the cultists, or reject it and aid the crusaders—and he's not quite sure which way is right for him.
